Concern Chrysler Group plans to replace the single-platform Sedans Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger two new models to be built on different chassis. As reported by Automotive News, citing its own sources, this step is part of a plan to rid the Chrysler model range from the "twin" among the various brands, which will be finally approved in early August this year.
According to preliminary information, the replacement of the front-the propulsion Sedan Dodge Avenger will be built on the platform model Challenger with the drive only on the rear axle and the engine located longitudinally, which in turn uses a slightly modernized chassis cars Chrysler 300p and Dodge Charger. Chrysler Sebring Sedan, the next generation will remain the front-driven, but receive a Fiat platform D-Evo, which first debuted in spring of next year for Alfa Romeo Milano. Currently, the model Sebring and Avenger are built on a global platform, developed jointly with Mitsubishi.
Chrysler Group plans to produce the current generation Sebring and Avenger before the end of next year, when the company closed in Michigan, which produced the vehicles. Note that by 2013 the American automakers plan to reduce the number of models from 27 (in 2007) to 20.
